Dream Trail

Last night, I had a very lesbian dream! Either that or there was a man squished in between all those women. I am not sure if I was a participant in that revelry or merely observing the unrestrained activity. Either way, it was getting very steamy and there were french fries, mayo, honey-mustard and ketchup all over place. I knew I had something to do with this, because that's how I like my fries.

At some point in time, we were sitting out in the open under a tree, all of us naked but wearing ties, and holding a notebook and pen in our hands. The blackboard had doodles scribbled all over it. One of the doodles, a sheep, baa-ed and leapt out of the board. A woman, much like Scarlett Johansson, quickly got up and ran after it. Then a few more animals leapt off as well, and we all ran after them in this idyllic farm scene.

It was a very yellow scene. The sun was shining brightly on us, making the blonde hair on some of the girls shine like halos, and the brown skin on some others, me included, glow like dark honey. We laughed and ran in slow motion, blowing dandelions at each other. There were girls standing in pairs nudging each other, and laughing as they escaped a fall. I looked around to find that I was the only one not being nudged. In my momentary loneliness, I saw three women in a distance giggling by themselves and having a conversation. One of them was holding a doodled sheep and feeding it the sunflowers she picked from the field. I walked up to them and turned them around one by one while they looked at me curiously with a soft smile on their lips. The woman with the sheep handed me her sunflowers and put the sheep down. We then lifted our hands up and flew backwards, and landed on the ground with a soft thud. It was a lush green meadow with colorful wildflowers all around us, like in a fantasy setting, with more color than the eyes could see.

As I thought to myself that the flowers were like jewels in this sea of grass, I found that my body was entirely covered in them and shiny gemstones and crystals of every shape and size. There were rubies and emeralds and sapphires... ambers.. amethyst... quartz... each of us was made of many million crystals of everyone kind of stone. Some of the girls had clusters of crystals shaped like the spots on a leopard or cheetah, some had the colorful elongating circles on a peacock's feather, and some the beautiful scales and scutes of reptiles... I was made of black onyx and diamonds, like the stripes of a zebra. I liked the many black lines that ran across and all over my body, sort of wide in the center and tapering in the ends. I liked how my gait was suddenly lighter and more graceful, or so I imagined as I walked around shining brightly and dancing amid this these beautiful crystal people and the bright wildflowers.

As I walked further and further away from the herd, I saw some men in black top hats and black capes with bright red inner linings rowing a boat in a narrow stream. There was tall yellow grass all around them and the boat wobbled its way through the stream like a jelly in the wind. I climbed onto the boat and squished myself in between the men. I smiled at them, only to find that they were all preoccupied in their thoughts. Trying not to be offended, I pretended to do just what they seemed to be doing, which is to get lost in thoughts. The two men who sat next to me, suddenly lay down on their backs and looked up at the beautiful blue sky. The rest then faced downwards and played with the ripples in the water and made music. I decided to lay down as well, and focussed on the girls' laughter that echoed from a distance. I wondered if they would join us at some point. But the farther I went, the more they seemed like they were unreal, and perhaps this was all just a dream.

Then the man on my right turned towards me. He covered by body in his beautiful silk cape. As he did that, the sun began to drop behind the horizon. We then quietly observed the sky change color and display bright shades of orange and pink and muted shades of purple and blue, until the stars twinkled in the night and my crystals evaporated.

We went into a pub and ordered beer and fries... but the waiter screamed "I am sorry, we are out of fries, mayo, honey-mustard and ketchup" to which I exclaimed "how can it be? i thought I was dreaming. But, if we are out of fries, it must all have been real... and it happened so sequentially". The men laughed as I said that and continued to make conversation, ignoring me as if I was being silly. I kept trying to recollect all the events thus far. The more I tried, the dreamier it got, but only darker and more confusing. But somehow, I made it back to the pub again and was sitting next to the men, who were laughing and singing a very sequential song full of tropes about numbers. With some awareness of my dream state, and the discomfort that comes along with it, I began to sing along with them, and soon I forgot all about my confusion and we had a great time laughing and talking into the night.
